I cover the Providence, Seekonk/Rehoboth, Attleboro and Boston areas. I provide personal archivist services: archival collection preservation assessment, basic preservation, archival arrangement and description, long grant writing, and historical research for archives, libraries, museums, businesses, families and individuals who want to treasure their history.
I will provide an analysis of what needs to be done with archival collections and make recommendations for arrangement, description, storage, and preservation. If client wishes, I will then arrange and describe the collections in an inventory or finding aid. Invidual clients will choose albums, boxes and other materials. I can also provide any necessary background information on the individual, family or business.. For business clients I will use program of their choice such as Archivists’ Toolkit, ArchivesSpace, World Cat/OCLC, etc.
I will use FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Ancestry Library, Rhode Island Cemetery Database, books, original documents and more to research your family, town or business. I will provide you with information from local newspapers, local history books, history of homes, coroner reports, personal papers (diaries, letters), census records,vital records and more.
I also offer grant writing services and set-up and training in social media accounts.
I charge a flat rate of $35 an hour for my time. A complimentary consultation will be provided to discuss your research requirements.
Additional charges include but are not limited to the following:
Copy/scanning of document(s)
Data base charges
The cost of buying birth, marriage and death certificates
Photocopying or scanning charges of documentation at archives
The cost of copying or downloading of documents.
Photography permit at archives if needed.
Units required for access to a family history websites that I do not have a subscription for
Travel costs (Mileage computed at $0.55 per mile. This is exclusive of mass transit fares).
These charges will fall within the budgetary outline as listed in the contract and will be approved by the customer in advance before incurring the expense.
Final reports and accompanying documentation are provided electronically unless other provisions have been agreed upon before signature of the contract.
